In light of the debut of the new Supergirl series, I thought a lot of people might be interested in seeing what might be TV's first portrayal of a Supergirl, three years after the character debuted in Action Comics No. 252, though it's very doubtful that the people behind this sketch knew of Kara Zor-El's existence.  For those who may be wondering, this comes from The Garry Moore Show.  Garry Moore was a game show host (the original I've Got A Secret, a syndicated version of To Tell the Truth) who had some comedy/variety shows in the late 50s and early 60s.  Among other things, this series is what Candid Camera spun off from, and the cast of the show in the early 1960s included Marion Lorne, before she became Aunt Clara on Bewitched, and the VERY young woman who plays Supergirl in this sketch.  Enjoy.

Carol always looked like she was having an absolute blast in her comedy sketches.  And here she gets to do the Tarzan yell while in the Supergirl costume as the Popeye theme plays...it doesn't get much more ridiculously fun (and heroically-themed) than that.
