Clio still going ape by Tom Artis

While I liked Bewitched, it bothered me that there were very few transformations of women in the show.  (Yeah, I have the same complaint about I Dream of Jeannie.)  This is probably because most TFs were inflicted on Darrin.

One of the more memorable female TFs was in the two-parter "Cousin Serena Strikes Again," in which Serena turned Italian client Clio Vanita (played by the delectable Nancy Kovack, who previously had shown up as Sheila, Darrin's girlfriend before he met Samanta -- Kovack showed up in a lot of things in the 1960s -- Trekkers will know her as Nona from the episode "A Private Little War") into a chimpanzee.  A little bizarrely, they went so far as to dye the poor ape blonde to match Kovack's hair at the time.

The episodes were not as good as they could've been imho, because they didn't actually SHOW Clio being turned into the chimpanzee -- or being turned back, for that matter.  They didn't even do the usual Bewitched "point 'n' poof" transformation.  ("Point 'n' poof'' is the term I've come up with for instantaneous transformations before the advent of morphing or more sophisticated make-up applications.  Please share "point 'n' poof" with your friends in the TF community.)

I've always liked to imagine some of the people transformed on Bewitched still exhibited a few traits of whatever they were turned into after they were changed back.  So, when I saw Tom Artis some years before his untimely death, and I had found a decent photo of how Kovack looked as Clio, I asked him to draw her still posed a little apelike.  I also had some photos of her in a sequined bikini, and he kind of used that to cover her.  Might've been more fun to have her finding a bug of some kind on her and proceeding to groom herself and eat it -- but this is fine.
